choosing relevant graphic ingredients When the decision has been made to embark upon a new campaign, the myriad of possibilities can be intoxicating. However, this is a time when being a responsible design steward is similar to being a good chef. To improve upon a recipe, the chef knows that certain ingredients will enhance the flavor of the food while others will taint it. Therefore, the best outcome can be achieved by selecting relevant options rather than running amok with pet favorites. Graphic design demands similar discipline. Care should be taken to choose the most appropriate graphic element, as shape and color affect the way visual messages are perceived. In other words, just because the chef likes cayenne pepper doesnt mean that he should sprinkle it on the customers creme brulee. These case studies illustrate our philosophy of relevant and appropriate messages in action. |
